Aside from melting dog-shit, the smell that really drives it home to the old brain-nodule that Spring has finally sprung has to be that new knee pad smell.
You know the one, that rainbow-festering, smells like teen spirit aroma of brand new spongey goodness that only a BRAND NEW set of knee pads can possibly smell like.

Under a freezing monday moon the legions of leather descend and annihilate. Sometime they sacrifice goats, but last time someone complained so that probably won't happen again any time soon. We have a spare goat if anyones interested.

A couple weeks ago Steve Murray brought a crew of his west coast homies (and some east coasters) out to visit his family and do some shredding. Along with him came Pocket Pistols pro Anthony Hancock. (Pics, Steve)

Well, like Greg said, President Raimondo showed up, so, fearing repercussions, everyone was in attendance.

You might think that bag has shoes, pads, and a helmet in it, but it more likely has a couple Pull-Ups, a box of Teddy Grahams, a sippy cup of apple juice, possibly a small porta-pottie, and Rose's favourite Dora doll.

This is the scene, old dudes strapping up, stretching, installing all sorts of pads, braces and wraps over injuries we like to talk about. And yeah, sometimes one Dewalt radio just isn't enough.

The line-up...(I might be laughing about the 5yr old sneakers Rob is wearing).

Honourary Old Man, Steve waiting obediantly. We only keep him around cause he takes nice pictures of us once in awhile.

And he can bust huge airs like this. No focus, I wasn't ready, sorry.

Umm, I turned up the smell exposure on my camera so you get to check out Chris' pads...you smell that? Gross eh? They're cracked, the padding is falling out, and they smell like death. Look around you Chris, 187, hello? You need to do a 187 on THOSE frigging things. Greg and I were talking about what the smell compared to, and the closest thing (we could think of) was an old Grizzly bear smoking a mouldy cigar that had just had sex and eaten a salmon that had just spawned and was half dead.

Sunday afternoon/evening, and potentially again Monday evening, President of Skateboarding John Raimondo returns to Halifax to swear in the new bowl, and take a pledge of Schooner and donairs.

Here he is doin' airs at Encinitas and Santa Monica, and yes, that is Eazy-motherfuckin'-E on his board.

This trick is kinda crazy, Selwyn's board is 6' away from his hand, and he gets it back under him every time, it's sick.

Rob Bell tried his best to evade capture by using his speed spell, and his leaping ability.

Greg had less luck using the 'corner defense', and blue bowl camo.

After a few intense set-ups and only a couple tries, Zach successfully rolled into the big bowl. Inspired, Dale followed it up by rolling out of the small and into the biggie. A couple more notches on a their belts.
None of us really cared to take pictures last night, but we'll try to get some next time.

This is the only picture I had of an old man skating the big bowl. Not sure if it was really night, I think it was more afternoon, in fact, it was the day before christmas last year. Anyway, yeah I know it's me, but I'm pretty stoked on the pic (which I have posted before). Baller took it, another old man skater that you will see in this spot in the future.
